I think understanding how we are connected helps to unify human beings. We spend far to much time thinking about why and how we are different. It's good to be unique...but it's also good to understand we are all a product of this vast universe we live in. It helps to understand our place in it. It makes petty wars over territory and borders obsolete. The world is our collective home...we need to look after it and stop being so selfish otherwise what inheritance will we be leaving our children?

it seems the people being screwed the most are also the most visciferous defenders of the status quo which sees them being severely disadvantaged.. maternity leave?
I was born and raised here and I don't feel the need to defend the country in general. It has a lot wrong with it but hopefully it will get better.
People have to actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT...to make it better. Just hoping never achieved anything.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you..LOL (that will be just as effective as hoping)...that the data the government collects on innocent Americans and the rest of the world doesn't bite everyone in the ass. They are not collecting all this personal data for no reason..that would just make them stupid.
The government is breaking your own constitution...and no one seems to give a rats arse. Where are the mass protests about this?
I think America is a beautiful country, and that people are just people no matter where they live or were born. And the government is as corrupt as many others. I don't think America is worse or better than anywhere else. Our current NZ govenment is just as crap...and our people are being just as apathetic.
But some things that are done in the name of freedom and security are not freeing or securing. In fact, quite the opposite.
I have no problem with America...it's just a country.. but I do have an issue with the American government interfering with other nations governments and laws. Like the TPP ( Trans-Pacific Partnership) ...more government secrets...more crap and control and manipulation of people and other countries. How many people are even aware of how big this issue is?

ok i started another thread and every one jumped on me because i was trying to take the theory of evolution out of the mix and most here seem to believe in it so i will just say it.
the theory of major evolution is crap!
the theory is falling apart.
Evolution is much more difficult to grasp that I ever thought. But so satisfying once you begin to understand.
I highly recommend this book as a good starting point. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.
he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.
finally he yelled at me: 'do you want god to write your name in the sky?
and not just scriptures (even though quoting the bible as proof of god is in my view incredibly .....silly, for want of a better word) but line after line of bible talk with no proof being offered.
I agree, using the bible as proof has no meaning to anyone who does not already believe in the bible. But people who quote from it seem to think it does. If we quote the Ghagavad Gita as evidence...does that make their gods real? Is it evidence of their gods. Does it mean anything to christian? That book is considered holy by Millions of people too. Just like the Quran. I honestly don't think that 'beleivers' get this simple logic..if they did...they would stop quoting the bible as if it means something to anyone but themselves. Some believers try to claim that they quote the bible for OUR benefit. But that is utter nonsense. Because WE don't believe any of it. It is for their benefit that they quote it. Because without it...they have nothing else to support what they claim. Without the bible or any other holy book. The discussion has ended before it has begun.
